A checklist of wild orchids in Battambang, Cambodia

Abstract

This checklist reports the occurrence of 79 species of wild orchids from 38 genera found in Battambang, Cambodia. Nineteen species were found for Dendrobium genus, 8 for Bulbophyllum, 3 for Aerides, Coelogyne, Trichoglottis, Vanda, 2 for Acampe, Cleisostoma, Cymbidium, Paphiopedilum, Paphiopedilum, Phalaenopsis, Pholidota, Pinalia, Rhynchostylis, and single species for Agrostophyllum, Arundina, Cleisomeria, Dipodium, Eria, Eulophia, Gastrochilus, Geodorum, Grammatophyllum, Grosourdya, Habenaria, Luisia, Micropera, Oberonia, Podochilus, Porpax, Seidenfadenia, Smitinandia, Thecostele, Thrixspermum, Thunia, and Tropidia. Epiphyte has the most orchids found in the wild, followed by Lithophyte, and Terrestrial. Growing structures are 53 (67%) species for Sympodial, and 26 (33%) for Monopodial. The 79 species are presented with scientific names, authority and habitats they grow in the wild.
